Gibraltar High School

Gibraltar looks to bounce back against Oneida Nation/NEW Lutheran on 105.1 The GOAT

The Gibraltar Vikings hope to get back on the winning track with a new quarterback at the helm when they play at Oneida Nation/NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy Friday Night at Oneida Nation High School.

The Vikings caught a bad kind of deja vu last Friday when Brady Kita was lost for the season due to another lower leg injury in the team's 38-18 loss to Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy. Kita had thrown for 133 yards and two scores before the injury, forcing Giovanni Mercier into action. He threw for 12 yards and a touchdown and two interceptions in relief, but he provided a spark in the rushing game with 57 yards.

The United were on the receiving end of Algoma's jump back on the wins wagon as they lost 54-36. The team scored most of their points in the second half when Algoma stretched the lead to 38-6 at the break. Reid Nelson threw for 137 yards and rushed for almost another 40 yards as he registered two total touchdowns. Bryce Liebzeit is the third-leading rusher in the conference with 837 yards on the ground. He was held to 89 yards but still found the endzone twice in the loss to Algoma.

Tim Kowols will have the call from Oneida Nation High School on 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com beginning at 6:45 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the opening kickoff at 7 p.m.
