Gibraltar baseball gets past Rosholt, travels to Pacelli on 105.1 The GOAT

The Gibraltar Vikings are moving on to the regional final after winning its seesaw battle against Rosholt 3-2 in Fish Creek on 105.1 The GOAT.

The Vikings scored the game's first run in the bottom of the first inning when Will Friedenfels drove in Brady Kita to make it 1-0. The Hornets would tie things at one when they executed a double steal with Matthew Ostrowski at the plate that brought home John Roota. The Vikings would retake the lead an inning later when Carl Burgess hit a single up the middle to drive in Aiden Purinton to make it 2-1. Friedenfels drove in what proved to be an important insurance run in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly to bring home Kita again to make 3-1. The Hornets would score a single tally in the sixth inning, but they would get no closer as Bennett Issacson finished the complete game with his sixth strikeout of the game.

Kita and Purinton each had two hits while Friedenfels, Aaron Brey, Hayden Reetz, and Carl Burgess all had one single. For Rosholt, Cody Studzinski led the way with two hits while Roota and Ostrowski had the RBI.

The Vikings will go for a second straight trip to the sectional tournament when they travel to Pacelli High School in Stevens Point for the regional final. Tim Kowols will have the call on 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com beginning at 4:15 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the first pitch at 4:30 p.m.
