Gibraltar softball begins WIAA journey at Howards Grove on 105.1 The GOAT

Their first win in two years would extend the season for the Gibraltar softball team as they travel to Howards Grove for the WIAA Softball Tournament opener.

The Vikings are coming off a 13-2 loss to Roncalli in their season finale on Tuesday. The Jets notched five runs in the fourth inning that ultimately helped shorten the contest. The Vikings were able to touch up reliever Michaela Eisner for two runs after being held to just one hit by the starting pitcher Gretchen Kapic. The six runs scored this week (two on Tuesday, four on Monday) are the most runs the Vikings have scored in a week since scored 11 runs in losses to NEW Lutheran and Sheboygan Lutheran. Head coach Cambria Mueller says they have been celebrating the small wins all season long and she is happy with how the team has responded to the adversity they face.

The Tigers finished their season 7-16 and are on a four-game losing streak entering the playoff match-up. A 9-6 win in the second game of a doubleheader against Manitowoc Lutheran on May 9th is their only win since a two-game winning streak in late April. The Tigers can put up some runs, however, scoring five or more runs in 12 of their 23 games.

Tim Kowols will have the call on 105.1 The GOAT beginning at  4:15 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the first pitch at 4:30 p.m. The game can also be streamed on 1051TheGOAT.com and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com.
