Gibraltar continues busy stretch vs. Peshtigo on 105.1 The GOAT

The Gibraltar Vikings continue one of their busiest stretches of baseball in recent memory on Monday with a pair of games against Peshtigo.

After playing five games in seven days last week to mixed results, the Vikings will play six games this week when they play doubleheaders against Peshtigo Monday, Sturgeon Bay on Tuesday, and Oconto on Friday. The Vikings lost four of their five games last week, including a 7-4 loss Saturday to Kewaunee at Fox Cities Stadium. After a rough second inning, the Vikings' pitching staff was able to hold down the potent Storm offense before both teams emptied the benches to give all the kids the experience of playing on a minor-league baseball field. The Vikings were able to chip away in subsequent innings, with Brady Kita scoring on an Aaron Brey single that squeaked past Kewaunee's Carlson. The  Vikings made one more push in the sixth inning, with Liam Lindenberg drawing a bases-loaded walk and Owen Dannhausen hitting an RBI single. The Storm's Waylon Delain ended any hope of a threat in the seventh inning, striking out the side to end the game. Vikings head coach Jay Kita was upbeat about his team's performance to cap off the week, but he is also extremely aware of the challenges this week has in store.

The Bulldogs split their doubleheader against Sturgeon Bay, which ended a four-game losing streak amid a 4-9 season. They end their week with a loss to Sturgeon Bay and to Little Chute.

Tim Kowols will have the call on 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com beginning at 3:45 p.m. and the first pitch at 4:00 p.m. The second game will begin about 15 minutes after the first contest is over.
