Gibraltar, Southern Door meet on U-1021

It is north versus south in a Packerland Conference battle in Brussels Friday night as Gibraltar travels to meet Southern Door.

The Vikings picked up their first conference win of the season last Saturday when they beat Sevastopol, but lost to the visiting Menominee Maroons 76-59 earlier this week. Jake Schar had another strong game offensively, erupting for 25 points, while Will Friedenfels chipped in 13 points. Vikings head coach Travis Ward says it has been nice to have Friedenfels back in the line-up after suffering an injury during the football season.

For the Eagles, it has been Drew Daoust racking up big point totals again this season as he has been averaging over 31 points per game. In their last game, Daoust was good in the first half, but got even better in the second as he scored 23 of his game-high 35 points after the break to lead the Eagles past Algoma 59-54. The Eagles got 11 points from Jared Hawkey and nine points from Taylor Schaefer. Head coach Josh Vandenbush says he has been impressed by the growth of his sophomore guard.

The Eagles and Vikings will battle each other on U-1021 and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com beginning at 7:15 p.m. followed by the opening tip at 7:30 p.m. with Tim Kowols and Gary Barta on the call.
