Gibraltar girls look for first win in Wabeno-Laona

The Gibraltar girls' basketball team hopes to have success similar to the boys' squad on Saturday when they face Wabeno-Laona at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

The 10-point deficit at the end of the half was still there at the end of the game, but Gibraltar's 43-33 loss to NEW Lutheran does not tell the whole story. The Vikings would tie the game up in the final 90 seconds but could not generate the points and the stops needed to cross the threshold. Head coach Devin Thomas said afterward that they "turned the ball over too many times with a minute left and couldn’t take it to the end." Mikala Gorham scored 13 points to lead the Vikings, while Andie Schar and Betsy Lecy each added six points.

Led by Rylee Yaeger's 12 points per game, the Rebels are 6-2 on the season. Their second loss was their most recent game, a slim 48-46 loss on Monday to Crandon after having a five-point halftime lead.
