Gibraltar shifts focus to Hilbert ahead of matchup

The Gibraltar Vikings, without their top scorer from last season, will head back home to play their first home game this season against the Hilbert Wolves.

Gibraltar was without sophomore Andie Schar in their first matchup of the season against Two Rivers. Schar was the leader in points last season for the Vikings, as she averaged 11.1 Points Per Game. Stepping up in Schar’s absence was Betsy Lecy and Mikala Gorham. Lecy scored eight of her own, and Gorham sprinkled in her seven points all from the free throw line, going 7-9. Gibraltar traveled to Hilbert last year and fell to the Wolves by a score of 58-18.

Hilbert fell to 0-1 in their season opener 67-18 to Lourdes Academy. The highest scoring returning player from last season for the Wolves is Aubree Diedrich, who put in an average of 5.4 Points Per Game. A lot of new faces and changes for the Hilbert Wolves could open up some chances for the Gibraltar Vikings to come in and take a win in front of their home fans.

The game is scheduled to tipoff at 7:30.
