Gibraltar's Peck excited for what season could hold

Gibraltar Head Football Coach Mike Peck appreciates the enthusiasm his team is showing to get the season underway.

The Vikings bounced back from a winless spring season in 2021 to go 4-4 in the fall, including three of their final four contests. While many went on to play for the sectional champion basketball team and the regional champion baseball team, a dedicated group of players used the time off from the football season to lift and do other offseason work to prepare for what they hope will be a return to the playoffs for the first time since they made it to the second round in 2019. Peck says he is trying to balance his upperclassmen's enthusiasm with getting his underclassmen acclimated to the high school eight-man game.

The Vikings will host a community corn roast and cookout before their season opener against Sevastopol at 7 p.m. The game will be carried live on 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m.
