Gibraltar to battle Randolph in state semi-final on 105.1 The GOAT

The Gibraltar Vikings will look to continue their historic season at the WIAA Division 5 State Tournament in Madison Friday morning against Randolph.

The Vikings faced their stiffest challenge of the playoffs in the sectional final last Saturday as they outlasted Columbus Catholic 55-49. While Sam Lindenberg steals the headlines as the Packerland Conference Player of the Year averaging over 20 points on the game, it was the triple threat of Jake Schar (14 points), Trevor Ash (13) and Will Friedenfels (13) that led the Vikings past the Dons to earn Gibraltar's first-ever state tournament appearance and Door County's first since Southern Door's trip in 1999.

The Rockets are no stranger to Madison, having won 10 state titles in their program's history. It is the first trip to the Kohl Center for the Rockets since 2013. Led by Sam Grieger (21.5 ppg) and University of Wisconsin football recruit Travis Alvin (18.5 ppg, 10.9 rpg), the Rockets have not lost since December. They were however taken to the limit by Cambria-Friesland 43-41 in the sectional final, a team they nearly beat by 50 just over a month ago. They started their playoff run with a 78-44 win over Sevastopol.

Bryan Mazur, Tim Kowols, and Reece Robillard will carry the hometown call on 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com beginning at 8:30 a.m. followed by the opening tip at 9:05.
