Vikings boys slam Blazers 79-60 on 105.1 The GOAT

There would be no let-up this time around as the Gibraltar boys' basketball team took down the NEW Lutheran 79-60 in Green Bay Friday night.

Almost a month-and-a-half after seeing a 10 point halftime lead against the Blazers turn into a 62-60 defeat, the Vikings saw the opportunity present itself once again. The Vikings got there by going on a 13-5 run coming out of a Blazers timeout to give themselves a 10-point cushion they would not get up. The Vikings would extend the lead to as much as 22 points before the Blazers were able to take advantage of the bonus to trim the lead to as small as 15 before Will Friedenfels and Sam Lindenberg knocked down their free throws.

Key to the win was the defensive pressure the Vikings placed on the Blazers' top player. Averaging more than 20 points per game entering the game, Bela Salm and others limited Tristian Lynch to just four points, all of which came from the free-throw line. The  Blazers had to rely on Elijah Meerstein (14 points), Jack Henschel, and Lucas Dhein (12 each) to fill in his absence. Lindenberg led Gibraltar with 21 points and Jake Schar added 18 of his own. Friedenfels scored 13 points, who along with Trevor Ash had two dunks in the game.

The Vikings are set to play Oconto on Monday in a game that will air on 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com.
