Gibraltar boys experience heartbreak versus Southern Door on 105.1 The GOAT

A late run by Southern Door doomed the Gibraltar boys' basketball from earning a second straight Packerland victory in its 60-53 loss Friday night in Fish Creek.

The Eagles jumped ahead early, scoring the game's first eight points and stretching the lead out to 10 points for much of the half despite the Vikings battling back to make it a two-possession game several times. Jake Schar knocked down a pair of threes to help the Vikings close the gap to just a two-point deficit at half. The Vikings changed up their defense in the second half and their offense took advantage, scoring the first six points of the second half and they would lead by as many as seven points in the second half. A corner three by Jack Peterson swung the momentum back in favor of the Eagles as Nic Pierre would hit a pair of threes that would put the Eagles ahead for good.

The Eagles used a short bench against the Vikings led by Pierre's 19 points and 14 from Drew Daoust. Logan Jeanquart chipped in 10 points of his own in the victory. The Vikings' Jake Schar and Will Friedenfels each got 12 points in the loss. The conference's leading scorer, Gibraltar's Sam Lindenberg, was held to just four points as he had to facilitate the offense in other ways thanks to the Eagles' smothering defense.

Gibraltar will play at Sturgeon Bay on 105.1 The GOAT for a 7:30 p.m. Tuesday tip.
