Gibraltar wins see-saw battle over Sevastopol on 105.1 The GOAT

It was "last team standing wins" Friday night as Gibraltar held on to beat Sevastopol 43-36 in Fish Creek.

The Vikings started the see-saw battle on top when Sam Lindenberg rushed in from seven yards out only to be matched by the Pioneers' Jack De Young a few minutes later. Lindenberg would close the first quarter scoring out with a 17 yard touchdown run to make it 16-8.

Caesar Sandoval would start things off in the second quarter from 17 yards out to make it a 16-14 game. After Lindenberg scored his third touchdown of the game, De Young led the Pioneers down the field to score just before halftime to tie the game up at 22 apiece.

The two teams would trade scores in the third quarter with Lindeberg scampering in from 12 yards out and de Young finding Sandoval for a 19 yard score to make it 30-28 heading into the final frame.

The Vikings would finally break the pattern with Lindenberg finding Marshall Maltby for the five-yard touchdown pass before Braden Sitte made the play of the game, returning an interception for the score. The Pioneers would tack on one final score with 24 seconds left when Sandoval squeaked in from three yards out, but the Vikings were able to recover the onside kick to thwart the comeback attempt.
