Lena/STAA runs past Gibraltar on 105.1 The GOAT

The Gibraltar Vikings simply could not catch up with the Lena/STAA running game as they lost their homecoming game 58-34.

The game started positively for the Vikings when Sam Lindenberg ended the team's first drive on a swing pass touchdown to Braden Sitte to get on the board first. The Titans answered immediately with Sam Marquardt taking their first offensive play to the house from 60 yards out and returning a punt 75 yards to take the lead 16-8. Marquardt would tack on another touchdown to begin the second quarter when he found Braley for a seven-yard touchdown pass to make it 22-8. Lindenberg would answer with a 33-yard touchdown pass to Sitte to get it back to within a touchdown. Logan Shallow would score the first of his four touchdowns as a response with Lindenberg only able to reach the endzone on a 26 yard carry to make it 44-22 at the break.

Shallow would reach the endzone in the 3rd quarter on a 16-yard run, but the crowd was brought to a hush when Cooper Cole was injured on the Titans' next offensive drive. He was carried away on a stretcher but gave the crowd a thumbs-up as he was escorted off the field and to the hospital.

The Vikings would outscore the Titans in the fourth quarter, sandwiching their fifth rushing touchdown on the day with a 44-yard flea flicker touchdown with Braden Kita finding Sitte for the touchdown and Lindenberg finding the corner from eight yards out to cap off the scoring.

The Vikings will return home as the visiting team next week when Sevastopol comes to Fish Creek. 105.1 The GOAT will carry the game beginning at 6:30 p.m. for the pregame show followed by kickoff at 7 p.m.
