Gibraltar leave Oneida Nation/NEW Lutheran with win, injuries on 105.1 The GOAT

The Gibraltar Vikings jumped out to a 37-0 lead and never looked back as they avenged two spring season losses with a 51-12 win in MONLPC-8 East Football action Friday night.

Sam Lindenberg opened the game for the Vikings with a 75-yard strike to Braden Sitte just 12 seconds into the game. Lindenberg used his legs on the game's second score from three yards and find Braden Kita and Will Friedenfels through the air to give the Vikings a 30-0 lead in the opening stanza. Even Marshall Maltby got into the act when he caught a 35-yard touchdown pass to make it 37-0. The United would get on the board late when Reid Nelson found Joseph Misovec for a 20-plus yard score to make it 37-6 at the break.

The United used the momentum to their advantage, opening the scoring in the second half with a six-yard scamper by Johnny  Ponfil to make it 37-12. Lindenberg helped the Vikings find the endzone two more times thanks to his fourth-quarter pick-six and a 15-yard touchdown pass to William Lecy.

The Vikings did experience more than a few injuries, including a leg injury to Guiseppe Mercier who had to be helped off the field in the second half.

Gibraltar will host its homecoming festivities next Friday when they host Lena/STAA at 7 p.m. 105.1 The Goat will provide coverage of the game beginning at 6:30 p.m. for the pregame show.
