Gibraltar football routs Gillett 72-20 on 105.1 The GOAT

On a dark and rainy night in Gillett, there was not much that could slow down the Gibraltar Vikings in a dominating 72-20 victory over the host Tigers Friday night.

The  Vikings wasted no time getting the offense rolling as they jumped out to a 14-6 first-quarter lead thanks to a seven-yard touch pass from Sam Lindenberg to Bela Salm and Lindenberg dashing one in from 85 yards out. Gibraltar poured it on in the second quarter courtesy of Lindenberg's legs. He scored another three touchdowns on the ground, including one from 73 yards out. The defense even got into the act with a fumble recovery in the end zone after the ball popped out of the Tigers' hands. Giuseppe Mercier and Braden Sitte also found the endzone in the second quarter to give the Vikings a 60-6 lead at the end of the first half.

With a running clock for the entire second half, both the Vikings and the Tigers exchanged a pair of scoring drives with many of the regulars getting limited action the rest of the night. Braden Kita engineered a pair of scoring drives, ending one through the air with a pass to William Lecy and another on the ground from 16 yards out.  Ben Matczek, Cole Schaal, and Jesse DeBauch all scored touchdowns for the Tigers in the contest.

The Vikings will stay on the road next week as they face NEW Lutheran/Oneida Nation at Oneida Nation High School on Friday night at 7 p.m. The game will air on 105.1 The GOAT, NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com and 1051TheGoat.com.
