Gibraltar football looks for bounce back against Algoma

The Gibraltar Vikings hope to find the win column for the first time in three weeks when they host Algoma Friday night in Fish Creek.

The Vikings left the field last Saturday heartbroken but with their heads held high after falling to Laona-Wabeno 38-22. The Rebels scored 24 unanswered points, including 16 in the final nine seconds to stun the Vikings. Sam Lindenberg and Giuseppe Mercier scored rushing touchdowns and Braden Sitte registered one through the air to put points up for the Vikings. Gibraltar head coach Mike Peck is proud of how the team has responded this week.

The Wolves come into the matchup 2-1 on the season after skipping 2020. Carter Zimmerman currently leads the MONLPC-East in passing with 414 yards, just seven more than Lindenberg. Zimmerman threw for 147 yards and one touchdown and rushed for 120 yards and two scores in the Wolves' 26-6 victory over Suring last week.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Broadcast coverage of Gibraltar football on 105.1 The GOAT will return next week when the Vikings travel to Gillett.
