Gibraltar falls late to Laona-Wabeno on 1051 The GOAT

Laona-Wabeno scored three unanswered touchdowns to stun Gibraltar 38-22 Saturday afternoon in Fish Creek. 

 

The Rebels got the scoring started in the first quarter when Braden Brauer rushed to the end zone from twenty yards out. The Vikings would respond at the beginning of the second quarter when Giuseppe Mercier scored from ten yards out before The Vikings converted their two-point conversion. The Rebels would retake the lead before halftime when Connor Taylor connected with Carter Janesch for a thirty-yard score. 

 

The Vikings came out swing in the third quarter when Sam Lindenberg scored from five yards out.  Gibraltar would take an eight-point lead with  Lindenberg found Braden Sitte on a forty-one-yard touchdown pass.  That's when the Rebels would take over first tying the game up on a seventy-nine-yard touchdown pass from Taylor to Adam Seeber. After some confusion in the final minute, The Rebels took the lead on the second Taylor-to-Seeber connection. Brauer's pick-six capped off the scoring for the afternoon.

 

The Vikings return to Fish Creek on  Friday night when they host Algoma for a 7:00 Pm kick-off.
