Blue Jays fly past Vikings on 105.1 The GOAT

The Gibraltar Vikings started each half well only to see the Three Lakes Blue Jays fight back stronger in its 50-22 loss Thursday night.

The Blue Jays opened the game with Ashton Maney picking up where he left off in Gillett with several strong rushes, but the Vikings denied him the end zone on three consecutive plays. Josh Cogar eventually broke the plane to give the Blue Jays the early lead. Sam Lindenberg answered right back on the Vikings' first drive, finding Will Friedenfels on a 60-yard pass to tie the game up.

In the second quarter, Cogar found the endzone with a nine-yard touchdown only to be matched by the Lindenberg-Friedenfels connection again from 48 yards out to make it 16-14 late in the second quarter. After the Vikings forced a punt, they drove the ball deep into the red zone of the Blue Jays. A tipped pass turned into an interception and momentum shift for the Blue Jays as LJ Terlizzi ended the half with a pair of touchdown passes to Brandon Baumann to stretch the lead to two scores.

The Vikings would come back strong in the third quarter, holding the Blue Jays offense scoreless and Lindenberg scoring on a three-yard quarterback keeper to cut the deficit. They would be shut out the rest of the game, starting with a safety late in the third quarter after the Blue Jays pinned the Vikings deep in their own territory. The Blue Jays put the game out of reach when Ashton Maney registered a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter.

The Vikings will look to get back into the win column next Saturday afternoon at home when they host Laona-Wabeno. Tim Kowols and Reece Robillard will call the game on 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com beginning at 12:30 p.m. with the pregame show followed by kickoff at 1 p.m.
