Vikings get new football opponent for Friday

The Gibraltar Vikings' football matchup against Chequamegon has gone from a long road trip to not happening.

The game was originally scheduled as a road game for the Vikings, but gradually made its way across the state and turned into a home-away-from-home game for the Vikings at Sevastopol. COVID-19 protocols has since knocked out both the Screaming Eagles and the Oakfield Oaks, who were scheduled to play NEW Lutheran/Oneida Nation/Providence Academy on Saturday.

Instead, the Vikings and the Blazers will face each other once again on Friday at 6 p.m. at Sevastopol. It is a rematch of week one when Marshal Bukowski put up 331 of the Blazers' 472 rushing yards in a 52-22 defeat for the Vikings. Tim Kowols and Tanner Bickford will still have the call from Sevastopol beginning at 5:30 p.m. on 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com
