Gibraltar High School

Vikings cross country teams small but mighty

The size and experience of the Gibraltar cross country teams are not stopping them from competing this alternative spring season.

The teams are smaller than they have been in years past partly because of the timing of the season and the worries surrounding COVID-19. Both teams also boast just one senior among them in Molly McCormick on the girls' squad and only one other runner with high school cross country experience. The boys' team consists of freshman Logan Mitterman and no one else. Head coach Joy Manweiler Bastian says even though the numbers are down, she has found an upside.

The Vikings will race again against Green Bay East, Green Bay West, Kewaunee, and Sturgeon Bay on Tuesday afternoon. The first race begins at 4:30 p.m. in Kewaunee.
