Gibraltar cross country races for first time Thursday

Gibraltar will tackle its first cross country course since the 2019 WIAA Sectional Meet in Manitowoc on Thursday when it travels to Kewaunee.

Both could potentially return the bulk of their 2019 rosters plus any freshman that may have joined this season. The boys' squad hopes to be able to field a full scoring squad this season after running much of the season with just four runners. Anthony CasanasNico SalmJack Hitzeman, and Emiliano Marvin all averaged sub-seven-minute miles on the sectional course with Casanas leading the way with a time of 18:06 on the 5K course.

The girls' team may have only lost Nina Sitte from last year's squad with Betsy Lecy, Maggie Moroney, Ana McNally, Klara Orrick, and Audrey Viste all possibly returning. Lecy was the top Vikings runner for much of the season, running a personal best 22:22 at the Brillion Invite.

Running against Kewaunee and Sturgeon Bay, the Vikings' first race of the season begins at 4:30 p.m.
