Vikings struggle in football opener on 105.1 The GOAT

The Gibraltar Vikings struggled to contain the run in its 52-22 loss against NEW Lutheran/Oneida Nation/Providence Academy Friday night in Institute.

 

The United Blazers squad used their strong running game to wear the Vikings down beginning with their opening drive when Marshal Bukowski galloped in for a 30-yard score. Ali Gbaja-Biamila scored from 18 yards up to put United up 14-0. The first Vikings touchdown went to Sam Lindenberg after Luke Steebs found him in the flat for a 13-yard score, The United's Alex Vansteele scored from eight yards out on a  quarterback keeper before Steebs caught a Vandenberg pass for 47-yard touchdown catch to send the Vikings into halftime down 28-14.

 

The United would go on to score four more touchdowns in the second half, including a pair of Vansteele keepers. The only break in the streak was a one-handed touchdown grab from Luke Steebs towards the end of the third quarter.

 

The Vikings will have the week off before play at Oakfield on April 10th. NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com and 105.1 The GOAT will carry the game beginning at 12:30 p.m. with the pregame show followed by kickoff at 1 p.m.
