Gibraltar football gets underway against NEW Lutheran on 105.1 The GOAT

The long wait is over for Gibraltar football fans as they play their first game since November 2019 Friday night against NEW Lutheran.

The Vikings last suited up against Newman Catholic in Level 2 Playoff action, which resulted in a 61-25 defeat. Otherwise, the team went 7-2 that season, including a 50-38 win over NEW Lutheran on September 21st. Practicing in the spring with only half the roster has made preparing for the season opener has been interesting for head coach Mike Peck.

The Blazers are a mystery heading into the game. The game against the Vikings was the last time they scored a point. They were shut out against Suring and Wausaukee before forfeiting their final two games. With it being the season opener and no scrimmages, there is also no film. It is still an opponent Peck respect a lot.

All Gibraltar home games this season will take place at Sevastopol. Tim Kowols and Bryan Mazur will have the call at 6:30 p.m. on 105.1 The GOAT and worldwide at NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com at 6:30 p.m. with the pregame show followed by kickoff at 7 p.m.
