Gibraltar topples Algoma on 105.1 The GOAT

It was a tale of two halves for Gibraltar as they won their opening-round matchup over Algoma in the WIAA Division 4 playoffs Tuesday night.

The Vikings used stifling defense and hot shooting from Luke Steebs to jump out to a 12-0 lead in the opening minutes of the game. They would limit the Wolves to under 10 first-half points as they went into the break up 41-9. Head coach Corie Zimmerman inspired his team to come out strong in the second half as they were able to cut the deficit in half thanks to Carter Zimmerman coming alive and a crucial seven-point swing coming off a technical foul called on Gibraltar. The Vikings would regain their footing and stretched its lead back to over 20 points while both teams were able to empty their benches in the final minutes. Zimmerman led all scorers with 21 points for the Wolves. Steebs scored 18 points as three other Vikings players (Will Friedenfels, Sam Lindenberg, and Spencer Krause) also reached double figures.

The Vikings move on to play Manitowoc Lutheran on the road on Friday night. 105.1 The GOAT will broadcast the game beginning at 6:30 p.m. with the  pregame show followed by tip-off at 7 p.m.
