The Gibraltar Vikings almost made it all the way back in its 71-67 loss to Oconto on Thursday.

Down by seven at halftime, the Vikings were able to outscore the Blue Devils 39-36 after the break. The Vikings were led by Luke Steebs with 20 points while Spencer Krause registered 12 points and Sam Lindenberg added 11. They were countered by Kadin Baxter who led the Blue Devils with 27 points. Caleb Moe scored 15 points and Luke Krueger added 10 in the win.

The Vikings will host Algoma on Tuesday in the WIAA Playoff opener. 105.1 The GOAT will carry the game beginning at 6:30 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the opening tip at 7 p.m.
