Gibraltar girls winning streak extends to three

The Gibraltar High School girls basketball team has vaulted into the top half of the Packerland Conference standings after securing their third straight win Thursday night. The Vikings nipped the Algoma Wolves, 51-47, in Fish Creek.

It was a tale of two halves, Gibraltar led 17-16 at the break before netting 34 in the final 18 minutes. Abbigael Sitte led the way with 17 and Sage Krause added 12 points. Sitte was a bit more economical from the field, making five of 11 attempts. Krause was only 3-17 but was perfect at the free throw line. For the game, Gibraltar was 15-50 from the field, roughly 30 percent.

Gibraltar earns a bit of a vacation as a reward for their recent hot play. They’re off for a full week, returning to the court next Thursday against Sturgeon Bay. Algoma falls to 5-8 overall and has to take on the Kewaunee juggernaut in a rivalry game at home Monday.
