A trip to LaCrosse is becoming a spring tradition for Gibraltar sprinter Abbigael Sitte. This week’s Culver’s Door County Student-Athlete of the Week qualified for three events at this year’s WIAA State Track Meet held on the campus of UW-LaCrosse, including the 4 x 100 meter relay. Nothing was a given for Sitte, who almost did not make sectional meet in the 200 meter and needed strong performances in the relay and 100 meter dash to secure her spots as well. Sitte will run the anchor for the relay team, a contrast she says to when she used to race the first leg.
The WIAA State Track Meet begins on Friday with the preliminary heats. Sitte is in the second heat of the 100 meter dash, the first heat for the 4 x 100 meter relay with teammates Bria Caldecott, Nina Sitte, Abbey Fitzgerald, Sarah Daubner, and Jade Toneys, and the first heat of the 200 meter dash.
