Algoma soccer hosts Packerland front-runner Sturgeon Bay

Category: Local Sports

The Algoma soccer team will take its crack at the Packerland Conference co-leaders on Monday when they welcome Sturgeon Bay.

The Wolves have gone 2-0-1 in their last three matches, which include a 1-1 tie against Packerland Conference co-leader Providence Academy. The Wolves also posted clean-sheet wins against Kewaunee and NEW Lutheran after dropping a pair of matches to Gibraltar/Sevastopol and Marinette.

The Clippers are coming off a 1-0 Saturday matinee victory over Green Bay Preble. Finn Stevenson scored the only goal in the game off a corner. Head coach Jesus Mejia called it an amazing game with both teams going back and forth, creating chances. "We fought incredibly hard and made it difficult for Preble to break us down," Mejia said after the match. "The boys had some incredible ball movement and defended really well."

Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. in Algoma.
