Melotte, Wolves run past Vikings on 105.1 The GOAT

Ethan Melotte contributed to all six touchdowns in a 42-6 romp over Gibraltar on Thursday night for the Algoma football team.

Melotte showed off his arm early with a 41-yard touchdown throw to Cooper Fay to make it 6-0 before he ran in for a score from five yards out on the next drive following a Vikings turnover to make it 12-0 in the first quarter.

It was more of the same in the second quarter, but just from a little further out. Melotte connected with Fay on a third-and-long play for a 58-yard score following another forced fumble before cashing in on their final possession of the half on an eight-yard quarterback keeper.

Melotte and the Wolves would extend the lead to 42-0 in the third quarter thanks to another pair of touchdown runs. Hobbs Emerson was able to lead one scoring drive late, sneaking in from one yard out to make the final score 42-6.

Wolves head coach Wade Vandervest was happy with his team's effort on Thursday and its ability to force the Vikings into some mistakes as they recovered three fumbles in the rout.

Vikings head coach Mike Peck was not happy with how things shook out for his team, but was happy that they kept fighting until the end of the game.

The Wolves will return to the road with a game at Valley Christian on September 11th while the Vikings will stay on the road with a game at Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas. Tim Kowols will have the call of that game on 105.1 The GOAT and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com.
