The Algoma baseball team's third-inning run proved to be the difference in a 3-2 win over Mishicot on Thursday to advance in the WIAA Tournament.
The two teams matched each other in the first and sixth innings with Charlie Prokash's RBI single and Braeden Leist's run-scoring double answering the Indians' tallies. The outlier came in the third inning when Cal DeMeuse reached on an error with two outs, allowing Leist to come around and score.
The Wolves outhit the Indians 7-4 with Leist and Dylan Seiler each collecting two hits.
Prokash earned the win on the mound, allowing two runs (0 ER) on four hits while striking out 12 across 6.2 innings. Jacob Massey collected the save with a strikeout for the final out.
The Wolves are back in action on Tuesday when they play their regional semifinal matchup at 6 p.m. against Brillion.
