Two familiar Packerland foes will have a WIAA Regional title game berth on the line Tuesday afternoon when Algoma welcomes Sevastopol.
The Wolves have been sidelined since a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Southern Door that gave them the Packerland Conference crown. Natalie Ray went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead Algoma’s offense in the game one loss while they only had three hits in game two.
The Pioneers earned their trip to Algoma with a 8-4 win over Montello last Thursday. The Pioneers outhit the Hilltoppers 13-9, including seven in the fifth inning that tied the game at four. Brynn Schartner homered as all nine Pioneers players recorded at least one hit, including three from Olivia Valenzuela and two apiece from Taylor Kochanski and Savanna Kiehnau. Leah Schopf went the distance in the circle for the Pioneers, allowing four runs (4 ER) and nine hits while striking out three.
The Wolves dominated the Pioneers in their doubleheader earlier this month, winning the games 7-0 and 14-1.
First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
