Algoma softball travel to Southern Door for doubleheader

Two of the top softball teams in the Packerland Conference square off on Friday afternoon when Algoma travels to Brussels to face Southern Door for a doubleheader.

The Wolves won their last game 8-4 against Coleman on Tuesday. Macie Zimmerman was dealing in the circle and the offense backing her up with 12 hits. Zimmerman went all seven innings, punching out 11 and scattering seven hits. The Wolves jumped on Coleman early, putting three on the board in the first on doubles from Zimmerman and Mackenzie Lischka followed by an RBI single from Ryley Tweedy. Lischka finished a perfect 3-for-3 on the day. Natalie Ray was the run producer, driving in three despite going 1-for-4. Zimmerman, Madison Schneider, Tweedy, and Amya Lukes each added multiple hits as Algoma kept the pressure on all game long.

The Eagles squeezed in one of their two games against Sevastopol earlier this week, winning the game 14-0. The Eagles put six on the board in the first inning alone. Lilly Vandertie got things started with a two-run shot to left, and Samantha Melville followed with a two-run double to keep it rolling. Melville did it all, tossing four scoreless innings with five strikeouts while going 2-for-4 with three RBIs at the plate. Alanah Kaye led the offense with three hits, and Harper Kramer and Grace Vogel each went deep. Southern Door finished with 15 hits and didn't commit an error.

First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
