The second half of a long-suspended softball doubleheader did not go in the favor of Algoma on Monday, losing to Peshtigo 5-0.
The game was scoreless until the sixth inning when the Bulldogs plated four runs, taking advantage of two Wolves errors and a two-run single by McKinley Fairchild. The Bulldogs added an insurance run in the seventh inning before retiring the Wolves in order to end the game.
Natalie Ray, Mackenzie Lischka, and Amya Lukes collected the lone hits in the game while Macie Zimmerman took the loss, allowing five runs (0 ER) on six hits while striking out four in relief.
The Wolves are back in action on Tuesday when they welcome Coleman for a 4:30 p.m. first pitch. The Cougars are 8-11 on the season and on a four-game losing streak that have all ended before the seventh inning. They lost to Menominee 14-2 on Monday.
