Fresh off their doubleheader sweep of Gibraltar last Friday, the Algoma softball team hits the road on Monday afternoon to face Crivitz.
The Algoma softball team received strong pitching to pair with its potent offense Friday evening as it swept Gibraltar in a doubleheader, 18-0 and 18-2. In the first game, which aired on 105.1 The GOAT, Natalie Ray, Emma DeMeuse and Ella Severinsen each drove in three runs, while Bristol Schmidt and Amaly Lukes each had a pair of hits in the win. Macie Zimmerman had 11 strikeouts to go along with no hits or walks allowed. In Game 2, the Wolves scored in all five innings, including five in the fourth and six in the fifth to end the game early again. The Wolves had plenty of baserunners, taking advantage of eight Gibraltar errors to go along with their 14 hits and four walks. Offensively, Emma DeMeuse’s leadoff home run in the second inning, Ella Severinsen’s two-run single and Natalie Ray’s two-run double in the fifth provided the fireworks for the Wolves.
First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
