Algoma boys baseball was on the road to open their season against St. Mary Catholic, in Neenah. They jumped on the board early never looking back despite a late surge from St. Mary as the Wolves narrowly won 6-5.
Jacob Massey earned the win for the Wolves going five innings allowing an unearned run while striking out eight and just walking two batters. A pair of Algoma errors allowed extra opportunities for St. Mary as just 3 of the 5 runs were earned.
Massey added two hits on the day and drove in a run helping his own cause. Algoma finished the day with 8 hits and three walks.
They will return home Saturday for a double-header against Gibraltar on the weekend slate.
