Last week's blizzard has officially claimed opening day from the WIAA softball season in northeast Wisconsin.

Algoma's home opener against Chilton has been called off due to field conditions after more than 20 inches of snow fell in the area. Its game on the road at Crivitz on April 6th has also been cancelled, putting April 10th's doubleheader against Gibraltar/Washington Island as the first potential game of the season.
