Wolves boys clipped by Vikings

A rough second-half at the free throw line allowed Valders to sneak past Algoma 47-45 in non-conference boys basketball action on Monday.

The Wolves carried a 21-15 advantage into the second half, but missed 12 free throws after the break to allow the Vikings to close the gap and eventually the steal the game away. The Vikings kept one of the Wolves' leading scorer Parker Lischka in check as he tallied just seven points. Griffen Robinson led the Wolves with 15 points while Charlie Prokash added 11 points and Aidan Zeitler chipped in eight more. Mason Staudinger led all scorers with 18 points while Jacob Olson scored all 11 of his points in the decisive second half for the Vikings.

The Wolves will try to break their two-game skid on Friday when they travel to Fish Creek on Friday to face Gibraltar. Tim Kowols will have the call on 105.1 The GOAT and 1051TheGOAT.com beginning at 6:45 p.m. followed by the opening tip at 7 p.m.
