Algoma Pulls Away From Eagles in Second Half on U102.1

The Algoma Wolves used a big second half from the duo of Braeden Leist and Parker Lischka to pull away from the Southern Door Eagles on Thursday night in Brussels. The Wolves improved to 4-1, while the Eagles continue to search for their first win of the season.

The Eagles took the lead in the opening seconds of the game on a layup by Rhyker Lohrey. After swapping empty possessions, the Wolves took the lead on a layup from Leist. Algoma built small leads throughout the half, but the Eagles would not go away. At halftime, the Wolves’ lead was just 28-24. Lauren Berg led the Eagles in the first half with six points.

After the Eagles tied the game in the second half, thanks in part to a pair of 3-pointers by Eli Jaden, the Wolves went on a run to put the game away for good. Leist and Lischka each scored 14 points in the second half without making a single 3-pointer between them. On the night, the Wolves were perfect at the free-throw line, going 6-for-6.

Leading scorers for the Wolves were Parker Lischka with 25 points and Braeden Leist with 24. Algoma next faces Luxemburg-Casco on the road Monday night, a game you can hear on 104.1 FM and the NEW Radio Sports Network. Lischka will enter the game nine points shy of passing Carter Zimmerman’s all-time scoring mark of 1,299.

For the Eagles, Eli Jaden led the way with 10 points, followed by Rhyker Lohrey and Lauren Berg with eight apiece. Southern Door will next be in action at Green Bay Preble’s holiday tournament.
