The Wolves opened the game on a 12-0 run after Peshtigo dropped in the game's first bucket. Then the Bulldogs clawed their way back to a three-point halftime lead, 27-24.
Algoma's last lead was 31-30 at the 15:30 mark in the second half and they found themselves down by 8 late in the second half, but pushed the Bulldogs late and after a foul and converted free throws made it a one possession game with 9.1 seconds remaining. A steal on the inbound play left the Wolves a chance to tie it, but they would miss the bucket and the Bulldogs secured the rebound for the win.
They suffer their first loss of the season and move to 2-1 while Peshtigo stays undefeated at 3-0. Redemption will come Friday versus Sevastopol on their home court at 7 p.m.
