The Algoma Wolves girls (2-2) held Peshtigo (1-3) to 17 points in the second half after giving up 31 in the first. That was enough to propel them to a 56-48 victory Friday night.
Strong defense from the Wolves transitioned into offensive explosion from Jadyn Nellis who finished with 18 points. Nellis nailed 5 three-pointers in the game, 4 of which came in the second half. Reagan Schnieder added 5 three-pointers for 15 points.
Overall, Algoma converted 12 from long-range, six in each half. For Peshtigo, they had just two all night. While short-range was the game, they had two finished in double figures. Both Baxter and Jashinsky finished with 10 points.
It's a quick turnaround following the win. Algoma is back at home Monday versus Brillion at 7 p.m.
