Algoma volleyball battles back in close loss to Omro

The Algoma volleyball team found itself on the short-end of a see-saw battle on Tuesday in Omro, falling to the Foxes 3-2.

 

When the dust settled, each set was decided by three or less points:

Set 1 – Lost 23–25

Set 2 – Won 28–26

Set 3 – Lost 22–25

Set 4 – Won 25–20

Set 5 – Lost 13–15

 

The Foxes were led by Addison Larsen's 12 kills and three aces, Payton Reiter's 11 kills and one ace, Emelia Levezow's 33 digs, Reagan Reiter 's 22 digs, Mackenzie Kettlewell's 17 assists, and Reagan Reiter's 13 assists.

 

Despite the results, the Wolves posted some impressive statistics all season long according to Shelby Loucks:

  • Sophomore Lauren Loucks (OH/MH) leads the Wolves with 95 total kills, averaging ~1.5 per set and a .127 hitting percentage — team leader in both categories — while also adding 14 blocks on the season.
  • Senior Jadyn Nellis (OH) has matched that offensive output with 91 kills (~1.5 per set) and a .083 hitting percentage
  • Junior Natalie Ray (MH/OH) with 71 kills (~1.3 per set) and a .040 hitting percentage.
  • Senior Therese Gerdmann (MH/RS) has been a wall, posting 27 total blocks to lead the team in that category.
  • Junior Eva Liu (Libero) works the back row, averaging ~3.8 digs per set with 233 total digs and 491 receptions on the season.
  • Senior Ella Severinsen (S) has tallied 158 assists, helping drive the Wolves’ offensive rhythm.
  • Sophomore Mackenzie Lischka (S) has contributed 25 aces (~0.4 per set)

 

The Wolves' season ends with a 4-25 mark.
