Wolves softball swept by Notre Dame, Denmark

The Algoma softball team's run of Brown County team ended on sour note on Saturday, losing to Notre Dame 13-7 and Denmark 5-2.

In game one, the Wolves responded to a five-run inning by the Tritons with three runs of their own on a three-run home run by Macie Zimmerman. The two teams traded single runs before the Tritons scored twice in the fourth and four more times in the fifth inning. Training 13-5, the Wolves scored twice in the seventh inning on an error on a ground ball hit by Natalie Ray. Jadyn Nellis and Zimmerman each had two hits while Zimmerman and Ray each had multi-RBI games. Mackenzie Lischka took the loss from the circle, allowing 13 runs (7 ER) on nine hits while striking out five.

In game two, the Wolves tied the game at two in the third inning on an error that scored a pair. The Vikings would break the tie the very next half inning and add two insurance runs to send the Wolves to their third loss in their last four tries. Brooke Mattson and Madison Schneider each had two hits while Macie Zimmerman took the loss from the circle, allowing five runs (2 ER) on six hits while striking out seven.
