The Algoma softball team saw their slim lead slip away late against Division 1 Bay Port in a 4-1 loss.
The Wolves took their 1-0 lead in the fourth inning when Macie Zimmerman's double was followed up by Nora Krause's single to drive her in. The Pirates took the lead for good in the next half-inning, taking advantage of an error before Ava Plumley and Payton Dudra drove in run on back-to-back singles. Dudra was single in another run in the seventh to stretch the lead even more before the Pirates ended the game in the seventh with one base runner on.
Brooke Mattson registered the only other hit for the Wolves. Zimmermann took the loss from the circle, allowing four runs (0 ER) on six hits while striking out six.
The Wolves are back in action Friday afternoon at 5 p.m.
