Wolves softball edges Oconto

Two runs in the sixth inning gave the Algoma Wolves softball team just enough to get past Oconto on Tuesday, winning the game 4-3.

While Wolves struck first on a Macie Zimmerman RBI double in the third inning, they found themselves down 2-1 after four thanks to a RBI triple and a wild pitch. The Wolves scored three unanswered runs in a two inning span, highlighted by a two-run sixth inning thanks to a RBI single from Bristol Schmidt and and error committed by the Blue Devils. The game-tying run was 90 feet away after the Blue Devils scratched together a run in the seventh inning, but Zimmerman froze the batter for her eighth strikeout to record the victory. Brooke Mattson, Zimmerman, Natalie Ray, Schmidt, Jadyn Nellis, and Madison Schneider all collected one hit in the win for the Wolves.
