Wolves softball clobbers Storm

The Algoma softball team scored at least three runs in in three different innings to run away from Kewaunee 11-2 on Monday despite three errors.

A four-run second inning would be all the Wolves would need, thanks to RBI singles from Madison Schneider and Jadyn Nellis. After Breanna Riha's RBI single helped the Storm get a run back in the top of the third, the Wolves responded with three runs in the bottom half of the frame and another run in the fourth to put the game well out of reach. Macie Zimmerman not only went 3-4 at the plate with an RBI, she also struck out 11 across seven innings, allowing two runs (1 ER) on four hits and five walks. Brooke Mattson, Nora Krause, Olivia Cabino, and Nellis each had two hits while Nellis, Schneider, and Krause had multi RBI games. Riha posted three of the Storm's four hits and both RBI in the loss. She also took the loss on the mound, allowing seven runs (7 ER) on 10 hits  and three walks while striking out four.

The Storm will try to rebound against Sevastopol at home (5 p.m.) while the Wolves travel to Sturgeon Bay (5 p.m.)
