Wolves softball clobbers Wolverines ahead of Cougars matchup

The Algoma softball team made quick work of the Crivitz Wolverines on Thursday, beating their visitors 13-0 in five innings.

A scoreless first inning set the stage for a four-run second inning for the Wolves, highlighted by run-scoring singles from Brooke Mattson and Bristol Schmidt. Home runs from Macie Zimmerman and Natalie Ray extended the lead in the third inning to 7-0 before the Wolves laid the fatal blows in the fourth inning with six runs on five hits.

Ray led the way with three hits and three RBI. Zimmerman and Madison Schneider also had two hits in the Wolves' victory. Zimmerman was equally impressive on the mound, allowing no runs on one hit while striking out seven.

The Wolves are back in action this morning at 11 a.m. when they play a Good Friday matchup against Coleman.
