The Algoma Wolves softball team put up crooked numbers in each of the first four innings to earn a 14-1 win over Gibraltar on the road on Tuesday.
Macie Zimmerman opened the scoring on a RBI double, setting up a 2-0 first inning. The Wolves would extend it to 7-0 the next inning, with Sierra Slaby, Brooke Mattson, and Olivia Cabino recording RBI base hits. They would tack on three more in the third inning and four more in the fourth inning as Nora Krause and Zimmerman each registered run-scoring extra-base hits. Courtney Foy would break up the shutout for the Vikings with an RBI single that rewarded Pam Prescott after she doubled.
Mattson, Zimmerman, and Madison Schneider all had two hits while Slaby collected four RBI. Zimmerman shined in her five innings of work, allowing one run (1 ER) on three hits while striking out 11. Emile Glocke took the loss for the Vikings, allowing 14 runs (10 ER) on 10 hits while striking out five in five innings.
