The Algoma Wolves softball team had to come from behind to beat their Packerland Conference rivals for a second straight time, topping Southern Door.
The Eagles scored three unanswered runs after the Wolves' Jadyn Nellis opened the scoring with an RBI single. Ashlyn Delfosse's double in the third inning made it 2-1 Eagles and Samantha Melville crossed home plate in the fourth inning to extend the lead.
The Wolves tied the game in the fifth inning on singles from Nellis and Macie Zimmerman before they won the game in the seventh inning on a two-out double by Zimmerman.
In addition to her two-hit, two RBI game, Zimmerman pitched a complete game from the circle, allowing three runs (3 ER) on four hits while striking out 11. Alanah Kaye was equally impressive despite the loss, allowing four runs (4 ER) on six hits while striking out eight across seven innings. Ava Uecker had a two-hit game for the Eagles.
The Wolves are back in action Tuesday when they visit Gibraltar for a 5 p.m. game.
