Parker Lischka ensured that the trip back to Algoma was a happy one as he led the Wolves past the Gibraltar Vikings on Monday night 85-43.
It looked to be a shoot-out early on as the Vikings' Kayin Jackson and Liam Lindenberg traded blows on the score sheet with Lischka, who made 10 of the first 15 shots for the Wolves from the field. The Wolves began to separate themselves later in the half as they switched defenses on the Vikings. They held the Vikings scoreless for three minutes midway through the first half, going on a 13-0 run during that span. That helped the Wolves build a 40-26 lead a the break.
The Wolves blitzed the Vikings to start the second half, scoring 13 of the first 15 points as Lischka continued to make basket after basket. Jackson made some difficult lay-ups to chip away at the lead, only to see the Wolves expand it thanks to a 24-4 run the final 7:34
Lischka led all scorers with 40 points on the night, draining six three-pointers in the process. Chase Romdenne and Cody Kirchman each added 12 points in the Wolves win. The Wolves are next in action on Thursday when they host Kewaunee.
Jackson led the Vikings with 14 points, while Liam Lindenberg chipped in 10 points, and Jeffrey Mize was good for six points. The Vikings will have a long layoff before they face Sheboygan Christian in their first-round matchup in the WIAA Tournament.
