The Algoma girls basketball team was able to make a 27-10 halftime lead stick as they beat NEW Lutheran 42-35 on Friday night.
Jaydyn Nellis and Lauren Loucks ensured the Wolves started on the right foot with a combined 15 points. That early lead would be needed as the Blazers made a strong bid for an upset in the second half, outscoring the Wolves 25-15 after the break.
Nellis ended her night with 12 points while Loucks and Slaby added 10 points in the Wolves win. Lexi Meerstein paced the Blazers with 13 points.
